Medical Treatment

Medical assistance is provided to the addicts to overcome the effects of leaving the thing that there body becomes accustomed to. This treatment is called as detoxification or detox. The next treatment is a 12 step program. In these programs those suffering from drug addiction attend the meetings the main feature of this system is that the participants share anonymity and they do not have to share what they have heard in the meeting. These meetings are open for everyone and are free of charge. Alcoholics Anonymous was the first and remains the most well known of the twelve step programs, but there are also similar programs that specialize in drug addiction treatment such as Narcotics Anonymous.
Involuntary Treatment
Then comes the involuntary treatment. In this treatment the court makes it mandatory for those who have been convicted of drug related crimes. These are made a part of the sentence of the convicts. Some also contain that a person has to complete a number of classes or even enroll in a residential drug addition treatment program. Though it always good that the addict undertakes the treatment at his own will but these types of programs will also help a great deal.
