Sober living environments are the facilities which are provided to the addicts which are getting rid of their addiction which is the environment between the rehab and their normal lives. This is the environment which is supportive of the addicts while they are in recovery. It is mainly to provide housing for people who have come out of their rehab and want a place that is supportive of the environment that they had during the recovery. It is the place where they can live in. it is a place which provides clean, safe and a drug free environment. In this the residents have transition from a higher level of care back to the day to day life and the community.
In this system homes are supervised by the house manager and assistant who ensure that strong peer group is provided by the sober living environment. In this the clients work, attend school and treatment and undertakes recovery activities in the evening. There are highly trained, professional, compassionate staff members that are highly experienced in the recovery treatment.
The sober homes provide recreational and leisure activities. They work on the principle that the recovery should be a fun. It is felt that if recovery is mixed with fun then it provides a healthy well balanced life.
The individual who is going for the sober houses will have to fulfill the different requirements of the house
1. No drugs or alcohol
2. Mandatory AA or NA meeting attendance
3. Random drug tests
4. On-time bill payments
5. General acceptance by peer group at the SLE’s.
The success rate of SLE shows that many people who have lived in the SLE find it an important part of there recovery period. Much of the assistance and support i9s provided by these houses so that the people could remain clean and sober For addicts to other drugs , abstinence-based recovery works with varying degrees of success, most effectively for cocaine, amphetamine, and cannabis addicts. Thus with the help of these houses the addicts are made to make there life simple and sober.
